Caring for our patients is our top priority. We continuously review the quality of what we do so that we can exceed expectations.
Every day, thousands of patients rely on staff at the Hermitage Clinic to take care of them when they feel their most worried or vulnerable. We're committed to repaying that patient trust by providing the highest possible quality of care.
This means delivering the right care, at the right time and in the right way to each patient. We help our staff do this through a range of supportive policies, systems and structures. Most importantly, we promote a patient-centered culture.
Quality assurance and improvement
Our quality assurance and improvement systems enable us to ensure that we:
- consistently meet a high standard of care
- identify any suboptimal aspects of care and quickly improve
- continually improve in line with new standards, guidelines and technologies

How we monitor quality care
We're committed to driving improvements and assuring patient safety and quality care. We have a range of groups and guidelines at the Hermitage Clinic that monitor our performance and help keep us accountable. These include:
- Patient feedback groups and surveys
- Complaints procedures
- Quality improvement and Risk Management (QIRM) committee
- Board of directors
- Medical Advisory Committee
- Clinical Governance Committee
- Risk and incident management policies
Dedication to healthcare quality and safety
Continued regulation is key to quality assurance. We continue to demonstrate our commitment to patient safety and quality care by working with independent, third-party clinicians.
Accreditation with the Joint Commission International (JCI)
Ongoing adherence to internationally recognised standards is key to ensuring high levels of patient safety and quality of care.
In November 2020, we achieved our fifth Gold Seal of Approval® from Joint Commission International (JCI). JCI conducted a rigorous review of the clinic's compliance with their robust quality & safety standards.
We would like to thank all staff for their hard work, dedication and commitment in achieving such a positive outcome.
Excellence in person-centred care
Hermitage Clinic are the only healthcare organisation in Ireland to be awarded a gold certificate for Excellence in Person-Centered Care. This accreditation from Planetree International affirms that we always put our patients first.
Patient feedback
Patient feedback is crucial in helping us measure and improve the quality of care.
We use a number of methods to gain feedback from our patients. Ongoing initiatives include:
- Patient Council
- patient focus groups
- text message survey sent 48-hours after discharge
- in-clinic comment cards
