Consultant Electrophysiologist & Cardiologist
Following his initial cardiology cardiac training in Ireland, Dr Keaney undertook a fellowship in complex cardiac electrophysiology in
Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, the largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Dr Keaney was appointed as a consultant
electrophysiologist and cardiologist in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in 2016, and is now the director of the Electrophysiology program at the Mater.
Special areas of interest include:
- Catheter ablation of arrhythmias
- Device implantation
- Stroke prevention in AF
Fellowship training
Dr Keaney was awarded a Newman Fellowship from UCD for his undergraduate research in 2013. He has contributed to a number of academic texts, including being an invited contributor to the most recent addition of the European Society of Cardiology textbook, and international guideline-writing committees. He has been an invited speaker and session chair at the Heart Rhythm Society scientific meetings.
