Dr. Tun graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2000. He initially worked in Beaumont Hospital and then embarked on his specialist training in Tallaght University Hospital. He continued to work there as a Clinical Research Fellow with Prof. James Gibney working in the area of cardiovascular risk in non-diabetes insulin resistant states. He also worked in St. James’ Hospital for a year before moving back to Beaumont Hospital to complete his specialist training in 2010. He was awarded a PhD from Trinity College Dublin in 2012 and has since been appointed as a senior lecturer with RCSI.

Fellowship training

Dr. Tun works closely with the RCSI Graduate Entry Medicine Programme and is a regular speaker for Diabetes Ireland and at GP and Allied Health Professionals meetings. His main interests are in cardiovascular complications in diabetes research, as well as health professions education. He completed his Masters in Leadership in Health Professions Education in 2013 and a Masters in Transformational Leadership in 2021. He is also actively involved in the development of clinical services for patients and is an advocate for using innovative solutions, including IT in healthcare.
