Prof. Barbara Ryan is Consultant Gastroenterologist and Clinical Professor, Trinity College Dublin. She has a special interest in HPB disease, EUS, ERCP, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and IBS. She strongly believes in a holistic approach to managing digestive conditions. She worked in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK before she returned to Ireland to a consultant post in Tallaght University Hospital in 2004. She has been working in the Hermitage Clinic since it first opened in 2007.
Professor Ryan was National Specialty Director for higher specialist training in Gastroenterology in Ireland from 2012-2015. She is actively involved in teaching and research and has published widely in her areas of interest.
She is the co-author of What Every Woman Needs to Know About Her Gut and co-founder of The Gut Experts, a female focused, educational gut health platform.
