Going home

Know what to expect when it comes to your discharge date and how we'll care for you once you're back home.

If you're an outpatient at the Hermitage Clinic, you will be able to go home on the day of your appointment or surgery. If you're an inpatient, your discharge date will be decided between you and your consultant.

Please note that if you're in a private room, you must leave no later than 11 am on the day of your discharge. Your consultant will give you specific guidelines for leaving the hospital. This will vary, depending on the treatment you have had with us.

General anaesthetic

If you've had surgery and have gone under general anaesthetic, we ask that you:

  • ask someone to collect you from the clinic
  • rest completely for 24 hours
  • do not drive or operate machinery for 24 hours

If you've had a local anaesthetic, please follow all instructions we give you before you leave the unit.

Continuing care

If you need another appointment or further care, we'll give you details before you're discharged.
