Our goal at the Hermitage Clinic pharmacy is to ensure that all medicines are procured, prescribed and prepared in the safest and most efficient way possible for our patients.
Services
The pharmacy has 3 main services:
Dispensary
At our dispensary, we process and prepare tens of thousands of doses each month. These medicine requests come from pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and doctors.
We monitor the storage of all medicines and, before releasing anything to our patients, make sure we have completed all relevant safety checks.
The dispensary is registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland, which is the national regulator for all pharmacies nationally.
The dispensary can also dispense the medications you need when you're discharged. These medicines can be brought to your bedside by a member of the pharmacy team. This saves you the often stressful trip to the chemist on your way home.
Charges are the same as those in any chemist shop. We do not provide medicines under any HSE scheme (e.g. GMS, LTI, Hi-Tech).
Clinical pharmacy
We offer a clinical pharmacy service to all inpatients at the Hermitage Clinic. This means that every patient staying with us has the chance to speak with a pharmacist about their medication
Our expert clinical pharmacists play a key role in monitoring patients and reviewing their prescriptions. One of their biggest priorities is patient safety when prescribing medication. Your clinical pharmacist will want to know what medication you may already be taking so they can check for any interactions.
We have a wide variety of clinical specialist pharmacists in areas like oncology, antibiotics and critical care.
Procurement
Our procurement service ensures that we have all the medicines required for our patients in stock.
If there are any manufacturing or supply problems with any medicines, we make sure we source alternatives as quickly as possible.
Prior to your visit to Hermitage Clinic, please print and complete the My Medicines leaflet outlining your regular medicines so our pharmacists and other healthcare professionals can refer to it.
Insurance
Not all services are covered by health insurance. To find out if you're covered, contact your health insurance provider before your visit.
Visit our Health insurance and self-pay page for more information.
Payment
If you do not have health insurance or your health plan does not cover the full cost, you will need to pay on the day of your visit.
You might be able to claim fees on your insurance.
If you need to submit an insurance excess or pay inpatient fees after a stay at the Hermitage Clinic, you can pay your bill online.
